The Artist's Work

The Green Heron Pottery Studio specializes in large pieces usually from 20" to 28" in diameter and 12" to 24" high. Each pot using from 25 to 50 lbs of clay. These pieces are then individually carved with a "waters edge" motif of reeds, grasses, lily pads and dragonflies. The carving is glazed with dark greens, browns and whites. The transparent signature glazes are then applied in a gradual transition from blue at the bottom to green at the top. Each work is unique in both its carving and glazing, and bears the "Green Heron Signature"
Some functional work is also produced, but again each series of mugs, bowls, milk pitchers, and casseroles are individually designed and change from production to production. Edwin does not copy his own work. Special orders are taken to design bathroom sinks, full dinner settings, or special event platters.
